This pieces chronicle my first venture into the electronic music medium.
The initial sonic materials were produced from various microphone recordings, signal generators with ring modulation, a Buchla analog synthesiser and a Yamaha sy99 digital synthesiser. They were recorded, mixed, cut, spliced, and manipulated using four Ampex 2-track reel-to-reel tape recorders.
Rough, machine-like electronic sounds are fused (and confused) with rounder, natural and instrumental sound recordings. These early explorations led me to search my personal inner haven of musical imagination. I find my inspiration at a sort of crossroads where sounds are ambiguous in origin. Real-world sounds seem electronic in origin and electronically produced sounds give the impression that they were created in the natural world.
